  I am a third year doctoral student and Ph.D. Candidate at Ryerson University, Toronto. I completed my MA degree in Global Citizenship, Identities, and Human Rights at the University of Nottingham, UK (2013). I also hold my MA and BA degrees in English from Azerbaijan University of Languages (2004). My research interests lie in the area of immigration and settlement, with a particular emphasis on the political integration of newcomers. Currently, I am working on research examining the right to the city and sanctuary cities. I am employed as a Program Officer by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).
