  Prof. M. Shivamurthy (born on 10th June, 1957) belongs to the farming family situated in a remote village in southern india. he started his career as grassroots level extension worker (Extension Guide, Horticuture) and he is currently the Professor and University Head of the Department of Agriculture Extension, University of Agriculture Sciences, Bengaluru, India. He is a visiting scholar for the Ghent University, Belgium and Humboldt University, Berlin besides coordinating the International Masters in Rural evelopment Program. He has executed more than ten externally funded research projects and research guide for 21 MSc and PhD scholars, published over 90 articles in reputed journals and books. Recognizing his contribution, he has been conferred with six National and International Awards and presented papers at more than thirty international conferences and traning programs.
