  Born in Chile in the 1980's, and currently living and working in Santiago, Cristobal Cea is an artist and educator whose work focuses on the relation between technology and affect; He is currently developing video work that deals with the relation between news footage, distance and 3D simulation, while teaching Gaming and Media Arts at Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Chile and Universidad Diego Portales. He obtained his BA from Universidad Catolica de Chile, and holds an MFA in Digital Media from the Rhode Island School of Design, where he taught at the Film Animation and Video program. His work has been shown internationally in screenings, group and solo exhibitions such as Ars Electronica (Austria), "Transgressions" at 67 Ludlow (NY), "YES" at Microscope Gallery, "Up for Debate" at BRIC Arts Media (Brooklyn), "La Necesidad" (Chile), "Radical Invention" at the John Michael Kohler Arts Center, the 798 Beijing Biennale, "Trickle Down Electronics" and the National Musem of Fine Arts in Chile, among others. His drawing series "Big Data" is part of the Deutsche Bank drawing collection and he has been awarded with the Fulbright Scholarship, the MacDowell Colony Fellowship, the Yaddo Fellowship, the RISD Bridge Academic Research Grant, the National Council for the Arts Grant (Chile 2010 and 2016), the RISD President Scholarship (USA), the Vermont Studio Center Residency Fellowship, the Kohler Arts/Industry residency, the Artistic Research Grant at PUC, the first prize in Fundacion Telefonica Matilde Perez Art and New Technologies exhibition, and the 1st Prize in the MAVI Minera Escondida Young Contemporary Art Award. His works and writings have been published in "Younger Than Jesus Artist Directory" (Phaidon Press), Art Journals (Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Chile), Intersecta (Universidad de Chile), Cyborg (NY), and in other publications and journals internationally.
