Before joining the Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER), Marc was a classroom teacher at primary schools in Australia and Japan for over a decade. He then spent several years as the manager of a film literacy consultancy firm, writing and conducting many teacher training courses and designing film making and film literacy programs for primary schools around Australia. His workshops focused on the use of film making and viewing as teaching and learning tools and combined hands on, practical activities with the latest theories of English language learning. In July, 2016, he was invited to present some of his workshop material at the International Screen Futures confernce in Melbourne, hosted by the Australian Teachers of Media (ATOM) and the Australian Literacy Educators Association (ALEA). He has been published in Screen Education Magazine, Research Develoments Magazine and Teacher Magazine in Australia.
