  I am an artist working with photography, and film installation. I was a journalist, producer and director at the BBC for ten years. I combine this experience with my research practice to examine narrative constructs within television, documentary, photography and drama. I have a specific interest in representations of trauma in news photography and television. I am currently undertaking a PHD research scholarship at the University of Wolverhampton. I have a BA (Sheffield Hallam University) and an MA (Birmingham City University). I have been the manager of a large and successful arts department. I taught undergraduate students and delivered arts based educational training to other professionals. I have also worked with the editorial team at the International Journal of Art Education. I am a practising artist who exhibits regularly in the UK. I have delivered papers at the 6th and 7th International Conference on the Image at Berkeley and Liverpool Universities. I received British Council and Arts Council Funding to establish a partnership artist exchange project incorporating work from artists in Birmingham, Manchester and San Franscisco. I have presented and published other papers including: International Journal of Art and Design Education: Aesthetics, Authenticity and the Spectacle of the Real.
