Delaney Wharton’s Updates

Update 4

While I do not use a digital platform right now for learner dialogue with my first graders, I have used Google Classroom, Today's Meet, and Padlet before with older students. I believe that students can benefit from all of these sources if they are reluctant to participate or if they do not understand the content.

In first grade, our primary learner dialogue takes place through think-pair-share or turn-and-talk. Together, I am tempting to have the students work on making eye contact, listening to their peers, and truly being engaged. I am also trying to get the students to provide examples/evidence from our interactive read alouds in order to support their thinking.

My school is going one-to-one with chromebook flips in October, and I would love any ideas or suggestions of things that you think would work well! Academically, my students are very low and have limited background knowledge of technology. I would love for technology to become a more regular part of my students' lives because I believe it can be a great incentive and motivator.
