Update 2 - ALEKS

One example of adaptive learning would be the ALEKS program. This programming allows users to get more practice on the material that they struggle with the most. It is most commonly used for Math education. This program is offered to students from Kindergarten through 12 grade level. ALEKS use adaptive questioning to help students figure out both their strengths and weaknesses. The program uses what it knows about the student and applies questions based on the areas of weakness it detected.

This is useful because in the traditional classroom setting, student do not really get to figure out weakness in real time based on the fundamentals of how a classroom is run. Teachers really cannot focus on the individual student and what would help them best understand material in this form of teaching/learning. Adaptive learning programs like ALEKS allows student to get immediate feedback and opportunities to improve. I think that if we used ALEKS and/or other adaptive learning within traditional classrooms it would allow learning for students to be more effective because the teachers could use the information provided by ALEKS to edit their lessons. It can help teachers with classrooms hone in on specific learning issues or individual learning issues because the teacher would get reports on the strengths and weakness of their whole classroom of students.
