  Andrea Tschoner (BSW, MSW, BA Ed) is currently employed with Flinders University of South Australia as Field Education Coordinator (Portfolio International Students and Wellbeing) within the Social Work Field Education Team. She has been responsible for the development and implementation of international student support initiatiatives including the semester long MSW International Student Enhancement Program over the last 3 years. Ms Tschoner completed her academic studies in Munich, Germany and South Australia and has worked as professional social worker across both countries over the last 25 years. Her extensive work experience includes working with diverse cultures incl. migrants, refugees and Humanitarian minors in the fields of child protection, alternative care, mental health, community health and community development. She has been instrumental in developing a Refugee foster care program of cultural carers from Afghan, Hazara, Kurdish and various African cultures as well as therapeutic parenting and youth programs for Humanitarian minor children within the South Australian Welfare Department between 2001 and 2011. In 2006 Ms Tschoner was successful in obtaining funding from the Refugee Council of Australia to undertake a research project focused on collecting the voices of Refugee women from Afghanistan and Africa which was collated as part of the UNHCR conference in Geneva, Switzerland. In addtion to seasonal lectures at Flinders University over the last 10 years she has practiced as Clinical Supervisor within Rural Health in South Australia 2011- 2014 providing professional debriefing and supervision to allied health professionals. Ms Tschoner undertook conference presentations on outcomes and findings of international student support initiatives in the ANZSWWER conference in New Zealand in 2017 and in Adelaide in 2018. Within her current portfolio responsibilites Ms Tschoner continues to advocate and progress collaborative inititatives focused on positive educational outcomes for a diverse student cohort.
