Born in La Habana, Cuba and with sixteen years in primary education there, Adonis Diaz Fernandez went on to complete his M.A. in Spanish and Literature at the Cave Hill campus and has awared his PhD in Spanish at the St. Augustine Campus, both of the University of the West Indies. His investigation brings lived experiences to bear and has revealed characteristics concurrent in a number of Cuban texts; the conglomeration of these characteristics he has coined “Orishaism”. His findings have been presented in conferences in Barbados, Cuba, Puerto Rico and Trinidad and Tobago. Adonis is also an Instructor of undergraduates in both Spanish and Spanish Literature at the St. Augustine Campus of the University of the West Indies.
