Professor Moir-McClean's current research focuses on digital visualization of planning and construction processes between 1930 and 1941 at Tennessee Valley Authority dam reservations and related sites based on archival material and field research. The Norris, Fontana, Hiawassee and Watts Bar Dam projects in the upper Tennessee River watershed are primary sites for this work. While at University of Tennessee, Professor Moir-McClean served as inaugural chair in the School of Landscape Architecture, and directed collaborative planning, design, development and guideline development for watershed, greenway and historic landscape redevelopment projects including: Watts Bar Reservoir Bike & Blueway Circle Tour (2016); Watts Bar Resort Envisioning Contemporary Recreational Use.(2016); Greenway Guidelines for the East Tennessee Region: Recommendations for Water, Rail and Roadside Trails in Regional Landscapes (2013); and Beaver Creek Watershed (2006). Her chapter on integration of landscape analysis into design was published in the book Everyday America: cultural landscape studies after j.b.jackson (2003).
