When we look at self we always look into ourselves and our surroundings. Our environment surrounds us and forms who we are, especially if we have cultural backgrounds. For myself I am an indigenous man and when I look into the concept of self, I always tend to include it in my introductions.

My label would be being an indigenous man, being a respectful person to society and the environment as a whole. The reading helped explain the concept of humans stem from social and structural instances. Potts explains how people must have “theoretical stances to unite our various perspectives of studying’ specific social bases of organization.

Think of how prepare you get for the first day of class vs the last day of class. You form a barrier to allow yourself to look a certian way based on your peers and that stems from media. Social media in general has distorted how we see ourselves. It also has a vast way of distorting our view of ourselves which leads to our own misconception of life.
