Stephan is a PhD student at the Graduate Theological Union in Berkeley, Ca. He holds a Masters in Theology from Trevecca Nazarene University and an Masters of Divinity from Loyola University Chicago. His primary work is in postmodern approaches to theology through the dual lens of apophatic theology and Michel Foucault’s philosophical system. His interests concern the ways madness, specifically in Foucault’s History of Madness, has the potential to give apophatic theology a renewed sense of excessive discourse and unknowability. He is currently preparing to propose his comprehensive exams in the Fall of 2017 and preparing to teach a course on Foucault and Derrida in the Spring of 2018.
