Stephanie Kelly has worked at Batchelor Institute of Indigenous Tertiary Education as Group Manager Business Development Policy and Planning since October 2011. Stephanie’s background prior to this was in community research and teaching Biculturalism, Ethnicity, Social Policy, Qualitative Research and Political Structures in both the university sector and VET sector in New Zealand and Canada. Stephanie’s PhD thesis was a ten year ethnography of Ngai Tahu, the first Indigenous tribe in the world to have its tribal identity recognised in legislation [1996]. The thesis investigated the power of whakapapa (geneology) as metanarrative – the most potent cultural resource.
