Sigrid Streit is a lecturer in the Program in Writing and Rhetoric. She holds an M.A. from Dresden University of Technology, Germany and a second M.A. from Kent State University. She also has a Ph.D. in Rhetoric and Composition with a specialization in Literacy, Rhetoric, and Social Practice from Kent State University. Her dissertation is entitled Gesture and Rhetorical Delivery: The Transmission of Knowledge in Complex Situations. Her research and teaching interests include the relationship of knowledge to embodied practices and teaching and learning in multimodal settings. She recently co-authored, with B. Jose-Thota, “Culture and the Physical Body: Cross-Cultural Variations in Defining Physical Aggression in Alzheimer’s Patients” (International Journal of Interdisciplinary Social Sciences). Her current research explores the role of movement and its ability to form implicit arguments in the context of Complementary and Alternative Medicine. She is also currently engaged in a study exploring gestural choices and motivations behind users' interactions with touchscreen devices.
