  Sharon S. Laing is an assistant professor at the University of Washington Tacoma, Nursing and Healthcare Leadership Programs and adjunct assistant professor at the University of Washington Seattle, School of Public Health. She completed an undergraduate honors psychology degree at McMaster University in Ontario, Canada followed by her PhD at Howard University in Washington DC. She then conducted postdoctoral work at Rutgers University's Environmental and Occupational Health Sciences Institute and University of Washington Seattle's Health Promotion Research Center. Ms. Laing has engaged in cancer prevention and control research addressing the psychological and behavioral processes involved in patient healthcare decision-making and adherence to screening. Her current research focuses on using health promotive mobile devices to advance patient-centered care for low-resource communities.
