Dr Sarika Kewalramani - Sarika has been a primary/secondary science, chemistry and mathematics teacher for 10 years in Melbourne, Australia. Her versatile experiences from previous Monash university research studies and affiliation with primary and secondary public schools in Melbourne guided her passion to complete her PhD studies at Monash University. Her current roles as an early year's science lecturer in the science curriculum, pedagogy and, instructional and inquiry-based practices have extended her experiences into cross-curriculum teaching and research. She has diverse knowledge base in using case study research methods with an emphasis on narrative inquiry. Her current research interests focus on exploring issues around parental involvement in students’ science experiences in early years to conceptualise students’ understanding of both pedagogies and programs in ways that promote and meaningfully engage young children's learning of science. Her current research involves understanding pre-service teachers’ educational and professional experiences with the view to enhance their knowledge and expertise around delivering curriculum and understanding the contemporary issues in the early childhood science discipline, including the integration of cross-curriculum approaches.
