Robert Weaver (PhD) graduated with a sociology degree from the University of Connected (Storrs, CT), specializing in the sociology of health, illness, and healthcare. He has taught for more than 25 years at universities in Ohio and Canada before taking his current position as Professor in Health and Exercise Science at Rowan University in Southern New Jersey. His research investigates various facets of health and healthcare. He has examines the social determines of health and healthcare, with a particular focus on how socio-economic status affects chronic illness (diabetes) and its self-management. His work also explores how alternative approaches to delivery and use of health information can overcome serious problems of medical error that plague medicine and healthcare.
