Robert Grover is a practising architect and teaching fellow at the University of Bath. Sharing both an industrial and academic background, he has developed a concern for the relationship between formal architectural education and professional practice. Robert’s research interests lie in the implementation of the design studio pedagogy and the integration of technical subjects into this paradigm. Recent work has examined the role of historical precedent in design heuristics, and how utilising a typological narrative may inform ideation. He is currently developing a number of pedagogic frameworks for active use by educators and learners to encourage understanding, independent knowledge acquisition and personal development in the design studio.
