  Dr. Robert Epling is the Arthur H. Hertz Endowed Professor of Sports Tourism in the Sports Administration program at St. Thomas University in Miami, Florida. His Ph.D. is in cultural foundations of sport from the University of Tennessee (with an emphasis in sport history), where his doctoral dissertation examined the racial desegregation of Southeastern Conference (SEC) football, the first such scholarly work to do so. A college professor for over twenty years, he previously served in administrative roles as a program coordinator, department chair, and school dean at Reinhardt University and Berry College in Georgia. His research and professional development interests focus on the history of big-time intercollegiate sports, and the relationship between academics and athletics on the contemporary college campus. Additionally, he is a contributing writer on college football for the Gridiron Now website.
