...MoreI’m a 2nd year Architecture Ph.D. student in School of Architecture and Urban Planning, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Wuhan China, where I received my Bachelor of Architecture degree in 2006. I received my Master of Architecture (sustainable design) from the University of Texas at Austin, U.S. in 2008. My research interest is sustainable architecture, with my current focus being the thermal behavior, water reservation, and fabrication of the living wall system. In 2011, I visited the Department of Landscape in the University of Sheffield, U.K. to participate in its Green Roof Center’s research project: “Collaborative Research and Development of Green Roof System technologies”. Since 2010, I have been collaborating with a local landscape firm in Wuhan in developing living wall system modules that can better integrate with architecture and save water. The main goal of my research is to make recommendations for system fabrication that improves the thermal environment of the building, and drainage elements that reduce or eliminate the need for irrigation, whilst retaining stormwater attenuation, and maintaining aesthetic value.
