Dr. Phylis Lan Lin is Associate Vice President for International Partnerships and Professor of Sociology at the University of Indianapolis since 1973. She has organized and chaired/co-chaired more than 10 international conferences on service-learning in higher education and Families: East and West. In her edited books on service-learning, many of the papers contributed to these books were related to the elderly and aging. Dr. Lin started her interest in aging studies after she received a service-learning grant from the National Council on Aging in the 1970s and she has published several books on stress management and quality of life. Dr. Lin was the founder of the Social Work Department at UIndy 1997. The Department name after her.. Dr. Lin, now 75, was honored in 2014 among the “Living Legends of Indiana’s Chinese American Community” for her contributions to higher education and international cooperation.
