Professor McNees is Associate Dean for Research in the School of Health Professions at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). He was integrally involved in establishing the Lakeshore Foundation – UAB Research Collaborative. Prior to joining UAB, McNees served as CEO and Chief Scientist at Applied Health Science, Inc. in Seattle and Orlando where he focused on the development health care technologies to address a range of chronic conditions. At UAB he sits on Steering Committee for a new doctoral (PhD) program in rehabilitation science, the Executive Committee for the Center for Clinical and Translational Science, the Advisory Board for the Laboratory for Global Health Observation and is a Senior Scientist in the Center for Outcomes Effectiveness Research and Education, the Comprehensive Cancer Center, the Metabolic Bone Center and the Center for Aging. He is currently assisting with the creation of a new Center for Enabling Health Care Technologies. Professor McNees has sat on research grant review panels at the National Institutes of Health for almost 20 years and recently served on the Expert Panel for Centers of Excellence for the Canadian Government.
