Nickolas Lambrianou is a lecturer and writer specialising in critical theory, philosophy and the history and theory of modern art. He has taught at a number of institutions including Birkbeck, University of the Arts, London and Tate Modern. Nickolas trained as a fine artist at Liverpool John Moores University and completed the MA in Philosophy at the Centre for Research in Modern European Philosophy (Middlesex University). He went on to complete his PhD at The London Consortium (University of London/Tate/ICA/Architectural Association). Research interests include: Critical discourses of the avant-garde since 1830; Theories and debates in contemporary art and exhibition practices; Repetition as an aesthetic and conceptual category in modern art; Critical histories of location, architecture and the monument.
