After taking BA degree in Comparative Literature in Istanbul Bilgi University, Nilay Kaya completed Boğaziçi University's Modern Turkish Language and Literature MA programme, submitting the thesis "The Problem of Seeing in Feyyaz Kayacan's Short Stories". She worked as a Turkish lecturer in Istanbul Bilgi University in 2006-2011. She finished her doctoral studies in Ankara, Bilkent University, focusing on Evliyâ Çelebi's Seyahatnâme (The Boof of Travels). She's been working as a research assistant in Comparative Literature Department in Istanbul Bilgi University since 2011. Her study topics are Victorian literature especially Brontës' works, travel literature, visuality and literature and modern Turkish literature.
