The author, Nancy Linden, personally struggles with dyslexia and other learning differences that make her strategies unique, unusual and original as an author and educational consultant for both staff and students. Nancy's educational philosophy si that all students need some sort of pattern to follow thought processes for understanding difficult concepts and higher level thinking skills. Nancy shares her own journey of learning as a student and classroom teacher to prepare participants in practical approaches for higher-order thinking.
As a result of a lifetime of different academic classroom experiences, Nancy incorporates many recurring patterns, repetition, hand-on manipulative(s), chants, songs, games and friendly competition with achievement goals for staff and student learning to engage the mind at every moment. Keeping with an "on-task behavior model" with quick transitions helps both the attention and concentration of the students at all times during the learning process.
