I have worked as a programmer, analyst, project manager and/or professor for my entire working career. I left industry to begin teaching when I had the opportunity to become instructor of and to help develop curriculum for IBM's first project to train the severely disabled as programmers; this was a joint project between IBM and the State of Virginia.
I later returned to graduate school and received my Ph.D.; the dissertation title was "Determinants of Participation in the ad Hoc Computer-Supported work group. This involved utilizing a computer site in England while coordinating research between groups at 4 colleges and universities; this type of research--that is coordinating activities between diverse geographic area has remained a favorite of mine.
In 1992 I was invited to Russia by the Institute of Commerce in Nizni Novgorod to work with Russian business professors. Since that time I have returned to Russia regularly, most often to Ryazan to continue to work with Russia colleagues.
Most recently I have been working several Russian colleagues on research into attitudes of Russian and American students toward information privacy.
