Mrs. Nakia S. James currently serves as a partner with Momentum Consulting & Evaluation, L.L.C. Mrs. James has completed a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership, with a focus in Organizational Analysis and is looking forward to attaining a Ph.D. in Evaluation, Measurement, and Research from Western Michigan University in the near future. She also serves as an Adjunct Instructor in the Special Education and Literacy Studies Department at the university.
Mrs. James attained a Bachelor’s Degree from Western Michigan University with a concentration in education. Upon completion, Nakia began her professional experience in the area of education. This experience was centered in the education of students considered to be “at risk”, primarily in the areas of music education and reading literacy and competency. She was a positive influence to her students and continues to be an encouraging advocate to many of them. Subsequently, Mrs. James has thoroughly enjoyed her experience in education as a profession, and intends to continue serving others through the practice of evaluation and organizational consulting.
Nakia has received several honors, including induction to the National Scholars Honors Society as a Magna Cum Laude member. Through both her academic and professional pursuits, she has had the opportunity to meet and become acquainted with some of the most influential and dynamic leaders. Accordingly, Nakia recognizes that this has opened many doors leading to her current success and future professional opportunities.
Nakia was selected to present an evaluation and to serve as a chairperson at the American Evaluation Association 2007 Annual Conference. She also presented an evaluation at the American Evaluation Association 2008 Annual Conference. As a formally trained meta-evaluator, she has also served as a delegate and meta-evaluation co-author at the 7th International Conference on Knowledge, Culture, and Change in Organizations held at the Singapore Management University. Subsequently, Nakia’s meta-evaluation work was published in The International Journal of Knowledge, Culture, and Change Management. She is currently working on several articles and other forms of publication for the profession of evaluation and the organizations she serves. Nakia continues to strive to enhance her knowledge and skills in evaluation, as well as in the areas of Strategic Planning, Capacity Building, and Community Impact Measurement. Continuously recognizing the needs of the organizations and people Momentum Consulting & Evaluation, L.L.C. assists, Nakia consistently works to enhance her abilities to further propel her client’s ultimate growth and success.
Nakia is a member of the American Evaluation Association (AEA), Michigan Evaluation Association (MEA), Canadian Evaluation Society - British Columbia Chapter (CESBC), Nonprofit Alliance (NPA), Evaluations, Strategies and Advice in Development, Governance, Humanitarian Action & Human Rights; Human Solutions Consulting Group Panel Member (Geneva, Switzerland), the International Development Evaluation Association (IDEAS), and the American Educational Research Association (AERA).
