I recently co-authored a book chapter in Pro Football and the Proliferation of Protest: Anthem Protest in a Divided America about the NFL Take a Knee protests. The chapter, titled "Rights and respect: How politicians and their followers view anthem protests," co-authored with Joshua Weiss was a fantasty theme analysis of politicians' repsonses to the protests. Both Republicans and Democrats notes the importance of free speech and respect, Republicans said one should always stand for and respect the flag, Democrats said it should be asked why the protestors are kneeling and that their beliefs should be repsected.
