Michael's research interests are primarily oriented towards innovations in the form of educational leadership itself. As such, he seeks to explore the influences of leadership practice especially where they might lead to social change. These have included international mindedness, relational and strength based concerns as well as the use of figurative and artistic devices to reshape leadership practice. He teaches innovation, organisational change, organisational learning and developing people in Australia and China.
