Dr. Melis Oguz has graduated from Middle East Technical University, Department of City and Regional Planning and from Department of Sociology as a second major. Having pursued her MSc on Housing and Regeneration at London School of Economics and Political Science (2007), Oguz got her PhD based on the double doctorate program protocol between Berlin Technical University and Istanbul Technical University focusing on the public space use and urban mobility of migrant women (2016). Currently she is a member of academic staff at Beykent University, Istanbul, Turkey. Among her fields of interest and study themes are urban sociology, informal economy, gender, neoliberal urban development, urban regeneration, green settlements, socio-economic sustainability, film studies, basic design and design theories. Alongside her academic studies, she is also co-producing a discussion program on medyascope.tv discussing mainly issues on culture, society and city.
