Matthias is a senior researcher at SINTEF Building and Infrastructure in Trondheim, Norway. He is an experienced engineer with degrees in Mechanical Engineering (BSc and Dipl.-Ing.) and Sustainable resource management (MEng) and Architecture (PhD) from Germany, England and Hong Kong. He worked for seven years as a façade and daylight consultant in Switzerland and Germany.
His main scientific interest is integrated energy design issues, with more than 100 journal and conference paper publications in the areas of energy conservation and the use of solar energy mainly in commercial buildings.
He is work package leader in CommONEnergy – an EU FP7 project focusing on energy-efficient shopping malls and involved in many other research projects like CAB – Climate adapted buildings and ZEB - the National Centre for Environment-friendly Energy Research on Zero Emission Buildings. Matthias has 25 years experience in the field of sustainable buildings with more than 10 years experience in international research collaboration (CIB, IEA SHC, IEA ECB, EU FP6 and FP7).
