She teaches historical, philosophical, and social foundations of education, curriculum, and methods of assessment and instruction. An environmentalist and an agrarian, she advocates for strong communities, regional economies, and environmental conservation. She is president of her local Audubon chapter, is active in environmental education, supports community arts, and volunteers for a park district.
