Lorn’s research is related to tourism destination management and stakeholder management. He has focused on the role of destination management organizations in creating and sustaining competitive and sustainable tourism destinations. Lorn is specifically interested in the relationship between tourism, entrepreneurship and sustainable prosperity of communities.
Lorn is cross-appointed to the School for Resource and Environmental Studies in the Faculty of Management and holds a faculty appointment at the University of Bayreuth, Germany. He was previously Assistant Professor of Tourism at the Haskayne School of Business, University of Calgary. He was founding Director of the Bachelor of Hotel and Resort Management program, Coordinator of Tourism Programs, and Coordinator of the World Tourism Education and Research Centre at the University of Calgary. Lorn has been a visiting professor and lecturer at the University of Molise, Termoli, Italy, Università G. D’Annuzio, Pescara, Italy, and the University of Las Palmas, Spain.
