Dr. Taillefer received in Spain her BA in English Philology at Malaga University (1987) and a MA in Translation at Madrid University (1988). She continued her studies in the USA at the City University of New York, where she obtained a MA in Liberal Studies (1989). In 1995 she gained her PhD degree at Madrid University (Complutense). She has published articles and books, included in outstanding international bibliographic databases, on Applied Linguistics domains such as English Language Teaching, English for Specific Purposes, Sociolinguistics, and Translation. Tenured Associate Professor and head of the research group ‘Applied Languages and Linguistics,’ she has coordinated various linguistic studies such as a ‘Project on Educative Innovation,’ a ‘Teaching Project for the Use of New Technologies,’ and also a ‘Project on an Online Linguistic Glossary.’ She is currently coordinating a ‘Research Network on Academic Writing in English as a Foreign Language’ in the International Association of Applied Linguistics. Moreover, she has been a member of the board of directors of Analecta Malacitana, as well as the administrator of that journal, included in international indexes. She collaborates with universities in Great Britain and the United States both as visiting professor and researcher.
