Krista Jacobsen is an agroecologist, with research interests in sustainable intensification, biogeochemical cycling in organic horticulture systems, and year-round production systems to improve local food availability in the Southeastern US. She teaches extensively in the Sustainable Agriculture Undergraduate Degree Program, an individualized major and minor degree program at the University of Kentucky. In addition to her campus-based coursework, she leads an education abroad course “Tropical Agroecology and Sustainable Development in Indonesia.” She is the current Steering Council Chair of the Sustainable Agriculture Education Association, the only national-level organization focused on the teaching and learning of sustainable agriculture. For the past 5 years, Krista has been the faculty advisor for the Shawneetown Community Gardens, a campus-based community garden on the UK campus.
