Kevin Volkan is a founding faculty member and Professor of Psychology at California State University Channel Islands. His research interests include the assessment of performance in medical students and physicians, cross cultural psychology/culture-bound syndromes, traditional Asian philosophy, and drug addiction. Dr. Volkan teaches a course titled the History and Psychology of Nazi Germany which is one of the most popular on campus. He earned his BA in biology from the University of California Santa Cruz, an MA in psychology from Sonoma State University, an EdD in educational psychology from Northern Illinois University, a PhD in clinical psychology from The Center for Psychological Studies, and a MPH from Harvard University. He was formerly Director of Assessment and Lecturer in Medical Education at Harvard Medical School.
