My PhD study explored the environmental support for preschool children’s social interaction within the theoretic framework of affordance. It was an interdisciplinary study which borrowed concepts and research methods from education, environmental psychology, and social science studies. A focused ethnographic method was employed in the study to identify and collect evidences of the spatial affordances which support children’s social interaction directly or collectively.
