In 2004 I studied at Rhodes University in Grahamstown, South Africa. Since that time I have been studying political and post-conflict African theatre at Lakehead University and Wilfrid Laurier University. My PhD dissertation proposes to study links between post-conflict African performances, analyzing the the way humour is used to facilitate reconciliation. My work frequently discusses nationalism and race theory, two of my main areas of interest. This conference paper is predominantly based on David Peimer's /Armer Response: Plays from South Africa/ which I have just reviewed for a journal.
