I am a performing artist, educator and politcal activist. From managing non-profits to launching programs in the public schools, I have strived to be a force for good in the double bass world. I teach double bass at Schwob School of Muisc, Columbus State University as well as work with one of the oldest orchestra in the United States, the Columbus Symphony as Principal Double Bass. I am most proud of my non-profit TORCH (Together, Orchestras Revitalize Community Harmony) Academy, 2012-2018. This organization met its mission statment of providing entrpenurial skills to challenged youth via formal muisc instruction in the most economically challenged areas of Atlanta, Georgia. As precursor to TORCH, I conducted an email /pen-pal project that I facilitated between elemntary school students at GA Towns Elementary school in Atlanta, GA and Roseneath Elementary School in Johannesburgh, South Africal in September, 1998. I brought traditional letters from the GA Towns to the Roseneath students and played my bass for them. We then sent emails from Administrative staff of Roseneath, back Towns Elementary and returned the email from Towns to Roseneath. The students at Towns learned that their counterparts in Johannesburg spoke up to eleven languages and the students in Johanesburg learned that not all children in the United States are wealthy among other things.
