Jane Claes is an Assistant Professor in the School Library & Information Science program at University of Houston Clear Lake. She holds a B.F.A. in Broadcasting from the University of Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music and a M.L.S. from Texas Woman’s University. With a background in commercial radio, Jane began her library career as a public relations and programming specialist at a public library in Ohio. After moving to Texas and receiving her M.L.S, she spent ten years as a public school librarian. Jane’s research interests include the history of children’s literature and publishing, children’s responses to literature, and book award programs and reading incentives. Currently a member of American Library Association’s Notable Recordings for Children Committee, she has also served on Notable Videos for Children Committee and the Texas Library Association’s Bluebonnet Reading Award Committee.
