Professor Iain Gordon currently guides over 85 staff and students as the Officer in Charge of the CSIRO Davies Laboratory in Townsville, Queensland. The laboratory combines a diverse range of disciplines in a whole-of-systems approach to natural resource management in the tropics of northern Australia.
Professor Gordon is also the Theme Leader for Healthy Terrestrial Ecosystems, within CSIRO Sustainable Ecosystems. The Healthy Terrestrial Ecosystems portfolio currently consists of 70 research projects aiming to develop new knowledge and practical tools to maintain ecological processes, conserve biodiveristy and control invasive species in terrestrial environments.
Professor Gordon’s research interests include:
* improving livelihoods and off-farm impacts of beef farms in Queensland
* management of feral pest species in Australia
* involving communities in Asia, Africa and South America in wildlife management.
