Dr. Hyong Yeom is an Associate Professor in the Department of Social Work at James Madison University. She obtained her Ph.D. in Social Policy and her M.A. in Women’s Studies and Social Policy at Brandeis University. She received her M.S.W. from the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, with a concentration in mental health. Dr. Yeom had clinical experience in mental health and mental retardation. She has been involved in various research projects concerning cost-effectiveness, mental health, substance abuse, low-income women, children and their families, disabilities, and international social work. Dr. Yeom is currently involved in research projects such as the impact of the Promotores de Salud Program on Promotores (Hispanic lay health promoters), parental perceptions of sexuality education, and North Korean refugee youths in South Korea.
