Hayder's educational and professional background is in languages education, specifically English and Arabic. He worked as a teacher of English as a Second or Foreign Language for the first 5 years of his professional career to adult learners at tertiary institutions and high school both in the Republic of Iraq and in Australia. While teaching ESL/EFL, He became proficient in the application of computers to support language learning and have been involved in research and teaching in the field. He is currently co-lecturing at the School of Education, the University of Adelaide.
