Dr. Gilbert Duenas has been a faculty member at Auburn University Montgomery since fall 2011. In this capacity, he regularly teaches on campus and online undergraduate and graduate courses for early childhood and elementary education candidates. Additionally, he serves as university supervisor for candidates enrolled in field experiences, practicum experiences and internship assignments. With regards to professional experiences, his writings have been peer reviewed and published in several international, national and state publications and he has presented at multiple conferences both across the United States and abroad. Prior to his current work, he served as a third grade teacher at an inner city school in Alabama. It was at this career point that Dr. Duenas became focused on making household visits to Mexican families as a strategy for forging stronger parent-teacher partnerships. Prior to entering the teaching profession, he honorably served a 30-year career in the United States Air Force.
