Frank P. Tomasulo is currently a Professor of Graduate Film Studies at National University. Prior to that, he was Director of the Undergraduate Program at the Florida State University’s College of Motion Picture & Television; Chair of the Division of Cinema & Television at Southern Methodist University; and Chair of the Department of Communications at Georgia State University.
He has taught a wide variety of film history, theory, production, and screenwriting classes at UCLA, Ithaca College, Cornell University, the University of California, Santa Cruz, Sarah Lawrence College, Hunter College, among others. He received his B.A. in Philosophy from Brooklyn College, an M.A. in Cinema Studies at New York University, and his Ph.D. in Film and Television Studies from UCLA.
The author of over 90 scholarly articles and essays, and over 170 scholarly papers, "Dr. T" has co-edited an anthology on film acting, More Than a Method: Trends and Traditions in Contemporary Screen Performance (Wayne State University Press, 2004), and has completed work on The Cinema of Michelangelo Antonioni. His scholarly writing and teaching pursuits have garnered numerous awards and commendations.
He has also devoted himself to film publication in another way: as Editor of the Journal of Film and Video (1991-96) and Editor of Cinema Journal (1997-2003).
