Fiona Lake is a Winthrop Professor in Medicine holding the eric Saint Chair of Medicine at the University of Western Australia (UWA) and has a clinical appointment at SCGH where she practices as a respiratory physician. She has a longstanding interest in medical education and has been involved in curriculum development and implementation locally and nationally. With her respiratory colleague Dr Gerard Ryan and other collaborators, she has developed a teacher-training package for clinical teachers called “Teaching on the Run” which has been implemented nationally and won many awards. She is continuing projects in clinical training in particular in multi-professional areas as well as looking at how trainees can be better equipped to learn in clinical settings. Her clinical interests are in interstitial lung disease and COPD, with pulmonary rehabilitation and community based multidisciplinary care She remains active in learning alongside and supervising undergraduate students, prevocational trainees and respiratory trainees.
