Ben Morris graduated from the Royal Military College, Duntroon in 1965 and was posted first to Papua New Guinea, and then to Vietnam where he served as a platoon commander in 1967/68. On returning to Australia he served in a number of training, regimental and staff postings, and finished his service in the regular Army in 1983. He immediately joined the Army Reserve and was awarded Reserve Forces Decoration for long service in that organisation.
When he left the regular Army, he joined the Commonwealth public service and worked in the Department of Health, the Department of Defence and the Australian Taxation Office. Post-public service he worked as a tax agent.
Ben graduated from the Australian National University in 1983 with a Bachelor of Economics, and received a Master of Taxation from the University of New South Wales in 1993. He is currently enrolled in a Master of Arts at Wollongong University. He has contributed articles to a number of publications - mainly regimental and army associations. He has an interest in veterans’ affairs and in taxation reform.
He has received the Reserve Forces Decoration for his service in the Army Reserve.
