Dr. Tratras Contis is Director of the CSIE Program. She has held several academic administrative positions, with increasing leadership responsibilities, since 1990, as Faculty Administrative Intern, Women’s Studies Director, Associate Dean and Dean Interim in the College of Arts and Sciences, Assistant Vice President in charge of Academic Services, and Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs, all at Eastern Michigan University. As Associate Vice President she was responsible for Undergraduate Studies and Curriculum for the Division of Academic Affairs.
She is a full Professor of Chemistry with research interests in the study of short-lived fission products of 235U; use of electronic technology in chemical education of both non-science majors and analytical chemistry students; issues for women in science; study of trace elements in food; and development and implementation of strategies to increase the success rate of STEM majors and graduates, especially in their first- and second-year.
