Proposed course: Introduction to EMRIP

This course enables learners to have a basic understanding of the UN Expert Mechanism on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (EMRIP). The course is intended for indigenous adult learners but will also be of use to other people wishing to gain a basic knowledge of EMRIP.

Participants who have completed the course should be able to 

  1. explain what EMRIP is
  2. be able to find and to apply participation-enabling information online, relevant to their level of expertise, interests, and issues, and
  3. to know how to contact key resource organizations and/or persons.

Cross-cutting course approaches:

Gender: The course includes gender mainstreaming as well as a module on gender. Examples will include males and females in different roles. 

Disability: The course takes into account accessibility for learners with disabilities, in particular indigenous persons with disabilities, and different learning styles. It includes positive examples of persons with disabilities as active participants and leaders.

Youth empowerment: The course provides examples relevant to youth and also feature positive examples of youth participation and leadership.
