Melanie DuPuis is a professor in the Department of Sociology at the University of California, Santa Cruz and author of Nature's Perfect Food: How Milk Became America's Drink, editor of Smoke and Mirrors: The Politics and Culture of Air Pollution and editor of Creating the Countryside: The Politics of Rural and Environmental Discourse. She is part of the Sustainable Engineering and Environmental Design (SEED) Curriculum Team at UC Santa Cruz. The SEED curriculum is a set of interdisciplinary courses designed to take students through the most important sustainable engineering and project design issues of today.
